ABOUT PARINAAMA
We are on a mission to improve the standard of living of marginalized communities in India through grassroots development initiatives.
Parinaama reaches out to the remotest communities to enrich their lives, offering choices, opportunities, and possibilities for realizing their potential. We strive for lasting improvement in communities’ well-being and resilience by implementing inclusive development programs.
Our programs enable local people to assess needs and develop their ideas for skills, knowledge, and expertise rather than simply delivering our own. Local context, culture, and values are the heart and soul of Parinaama’s work. Our local teams work alongside people in the villages to facilitate this slow, but effective change.
Parinaama is dedicated to sustainable economic development and a socially just approach. Our unique contribution is to mobilize and engage people everywhere through transformational conversations and lived experiences consistent with our purpose. We work with the community sensitively, keeping their traditions and culture in mind. Then through our ‘long-term handholding’ approach, we walk through the journey to explore ways of working together. We work with community leaders, local political representatives, traditional cultural custodians, and regional government to ensure smooth processes and program delivery.

WHAT WE DO
FROM OUR FOUNDER’S DESK
The story of Parinaama is deeply personal to me. I was raised in a family where social justice was more than just a concept, it was a way of life. My father, Mr. Attili Krishna Rao, was a Telugu playwright who wrote numerous plays on systemic oppression and social justice for over three decades. I grew up watching him direct and advocate for social consciousness among the people, through street theatre.
As I embarked on my professional path in the development sector, the contrast between my privilege and the struggles faced by so many others became too glaring to ignore. In 2012, I decided to step away from a fledgling career to build Parinaama. It wasn’t just a shift in profession; it was a shift in purpose.
Parinaama is not just about my journey. It’s about creating a legacy that others can continue. It’s a mission that I cannot accomplish on my own. It requires the passion and commitment of others who believe in the same vision—a world where every individual, no matter where they are born, has the opportunity to rise above their circumstances. Through our work, we strive to honour the values that guided my journey and extend the legacy of compassion and empowerment to those who need it most.
